Haiti Crisis

Hello from the AWAKENHAITI Team!

We have been sharing bits and pieces of information regarding the issues in Haiti over the last 16 months causing us to cancel three trips.  In September, we had 2 board members and a sponsor travel to Haiti to meet with our transition students to review their scholarship applications and to visit with the Good Sam kids and Max & Margarette.  Fortunately, things were calm and peaceful while they were in Haiti, however, the day after they left (September 16), things became very unsettled again. Since then, the condition of the country has worsened. Schools have pretty much been closed since September 16th including universities and trade schools, halting all education.  Businesses and street markets have been closed off and on since that time also.
These are two recent articles that explain some of the issues going on currently:

November 17, 2019

Because of its location being in a common place for protesting and road blocks, Max has had to leave his business closed since the beginning of October. The Good Samaritan kids are still doing well despite being homebound since the protesting started back up. We consider it a priority to assist them as much as we can if conditions worsen.  Even more now than ever, your support  is so needed and appreciated as Max's income has changed, cost of living has increased, and fuel, water and food has become more difficult to acquire. Thank you for continuing on this journey in supporting Good Samaritan!

We will be sending out a newsletter very soon with other ministry updates, please be on the look out for those!  In the mean time, please continue to pray for Haiti, for Max and Margarette and for the Good Sam kids and students. And certainly, if any of you are not yet financial sponsors of Good Samaritan we would love for you to join us in this journey by emailing info@awakenhaiti.org.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers!
