update on Daphney

Thank you so much for your prayers for Daphney!  She had an infection and swelling around her stomach which has been treated.  She is home and making up for lost time eating everything in sight.

Please join us in praying for Daphney.  She has been hospitalized and is undergoing tests for stomach pain.  Daphney just finished her final year of high school and took her government exams.  She is waiting for results of the exams and beginning the application process for medical school.  Please pray for answers, available treatment, and God's peace in her spirit.

Please pray for Yviolane as she recovers from surgery to remove her tonsils and adenoids this week.  She will be on a special diet for the next two weeks.

Team July Day 6

Today was another awesome day with this team in Haiti.  We made a trip to Canaan to visit some of the families there.  We were welcomed with open arms!  It has been 7 months since any of us from AWAKENHAITI have been there.
Things are looking great, the school is working through report cards, exam results and parent meetings. There is more work being done on the security wall around the property.
We made our way to visit Nadege, Suzette's three daughters, and Emily.  After some great sharing, we prayed with each one asking for blessings over their homes.  This is always a very special time!
We made our way to the girls home to say good bye to them tonight.  It's a bittersweet thing.  We all miss our families and of course want to be with them, but it is also difficult to leave the kids we've spent the past week with.
Tomorrow, we will pack up and go to visit our boys one last time before we head to the souvenir market, then to the airport.

Team July day 5

Team July went to Love and Grace Boys Home today to provide them with dental care and physicals.  There are 19 boys of various ages there.  It was a very busy morning, but we had lots of extra help from some of the older Good Samaritan girls.  They helped with records, moving the kids from room to room and some with translating.  It is so good to serve alongside them!
We spent some time in the afternoon at the Good Samaritan Boys Home so they could write letters to their sponsors.
Our evening was very special spending time in fellowship and sharing.  This is an amazing team of people working together!

Team July Day 4

Team July had a great morning of worship at Port-au-Prince fellowship!  It was a joy to see Stephanie singing with the worship team!  PAP fellowship is a small church of Haitians and others from various countries.   It is awesome to worship as one body!
The afternoon was spent at the girls home giving the kids their sponsor letters and helping them write back to their sponsors.  This process took 3 hours ending with watching the final soccer game.  Everyone in Haiti is either watching or listening to it!

Team July Saturday

Saturday was a ton of fun!! We took the Good Samaritan kids to the park to play.  There was basketball, soccer, volleyball, swinging, bracelet making, and coloring!  The kids were so excited for their day out.
We finished their physicals and dental cleanings this afternoon and then spent the evening with Junior's wife, Nadege learning how she makes beads from magazines or cereal boxes.  She has a knack for it, but we sure don't…here's our finished product, we told her we would string them together to make a bracelet for her, she was not impressed!

Team July Friday

Today was busy with dental care for another children's home.  We are blessed to have people giving their time and talents to provide this preventative care and to work with Junior so that he can carry this on!
This evening was the highlight of our day as we celebrated the July birthdays at Good Samaritan.  There was quite a show put on for us.  Singing, dancing, reciting, laughing, fashion show, and lots of love!
This monthly event has really helped to set the tone for family.  The children truly are brothers and sisters.  We are so blessed to be part of this!

The team is doing great, everyone is enjoying getting settled into the culture a little and love having time with the kids.
Tomorrow we will take the kids to the park to play and perhaps there will be a soccer game in preparation for all of the excitement welling for Sunday's championship game!

Team July - Thursday

Team July spent Thursday at Good Samaritan doing dental cleanings and physicals.  This preventative care is so necessary and will benefit the kids in a big way as they get older.  We are so blessed to have people pouring into the kids and to be part of all God is doing in the children's homes.

It wasn't all work, there was lots of time to play any kind of ball and coloring.

Power and internet were problematic Thursday night.  We will all be very tired today as we travel to another children's home to provide dental care.

Team July

Team July arrived in Haiti after a sleepless night.  Everyone is doing well, trying to get adjusted to the heat and catch a rest.  Some new experiences for some and awesome reunions for others!  We'll be going to give hugs to the Good Samaritan kids later this evening.
Tomorrow, we will travel to another children's home to provide them with dental cleanings and more dental training for Junior!
Please pray for our time here, good health, and that we would really see and learn what God is showing us!

February trip to Haiti

A small group traveled to Haiti for a short visit with our ministry partners with Good Samaritan Ministry and the children of Good Samaritan Children's Homes.  Little did we know how much love and fun would be packed into those days!

We arrived exhausted Friday evening (2/28) and went right on to the Jan & Feb birthday celebration that was also a farewell for twins Phara and Phaline.  Phara and Phaline are 23 year old twins who have spent many years growing up in the girls home becoming leaders and amazing role models for the younger girls.  Their strong faith and hard work have led them through the trials of being away from their parents who could not raise their five children.  With the help of the Cazeau's, Good Samaritan Ministries, and AWAKENHAITI, the girls are thriving and are just finishing their two-year medical studies and are ready to return to their parents' home.  It was a tearful goodbye but we will continue to walk with them as they establish independence and self-sufficiency!

Saturday we were blessed enough to spend some time at the boys' soccer clinic!  We then spent the afternoon helping to administer dental exams and varnish treatments.  Junior has been working his way through dental training and this was another step in learning for him!  Thank you to Tim for providing such great guidance for Junior and to Rich and Don for your awesome support work!

Sunday we traveled to another children's home to provide the same dental care for their 21 children and a few neighbors.
Monday was field trip day to Fort Jacques to take in some breath taking views and experience some of Haiti's History.  The kids loved getting out of their homes for the day during their break from school!

After returning, we finished the dental exams.
Tuesday morning was  a lot of fun...taking more pictures, talking, getting and giving lots of hugs!  Then there is goodbye.  Always a hard time that tugs at your heart.  We love these kids, they are so special.  We trust God to watch over them and care for them...what a blessing to be part of their lives!
