Team June II Days 4 & 5

The last day in Canaan was very busy in the clinic, our waiting area was already full!  Great job nurses in getting through so many patients, for taking time with them and doing your best to work with them!  Thank you to the team members who filled in other areas of the clinic, running registration, triage, helping in exam rooms, helping in pharmacy and the dental room.  We couldn't have done it without all of you!
The exterior of the professional building got a coat of paint and several others worked on cutting wood that our next team will then use to make school benches.  The building is looking great!  almost done!

Yesterday, the team enjoyed a relaxing day at the pool taking in some Caribbean sun.  Last evening, the team got to be part of a farewell party for the Denlinger family and for Sandra as her adoption is now complete and she is ready to go home!  What a blessing!  The children sang, danced and read some very touching words!

Today, a small group hiked a waterfall.  We will spend the afternoon with the Good Samaritan children playing and maybe some more dancing!

Good bye Sandra, we will miss you!

Team June II Day 3

More painting and sawing and hanging trim today in Canaan on the buildings.  Many more patients seen in the medical and dental clinic!
Deb took our two nurses to visit Suzette today.  We so appreciate the love and care they took for her today.  If you haven't read about Suzette in the past, please to the Denlinger family blog to read Some of Suzette's story.  The latest blog post is on Suzette and there are many other bits and pieces of her story in other blog posts under the archive posts to the right side of the blog page.
Suzette has been a living testimony of faith to many people!

One of the funnest parts of the day was the trip to the Good Samaritan girls home.  This team has three of the children's sponsors on it.  One of which got to meet their sponsor girl for the first time!  There was a soccer game, bracelet making, card game, good conversation and lots of fun going on all at the same time!
Alan and Leslie meeting their sponsor child, Marie-Ange for the first time!

Tracy and her sponsor girl, Lovely!

Team June II Day 2

Today, more construction work and painting was done in Canaan.  We almost doubled the number of patients we saw from yesterday.  We treated many kids with ear and chest infections, something is going around.  Junior and his awesome assistants also did some dental procedures.  Several of the team members had time to hang out with some of the community kids this afternoon.  They had a blast playing soccer, singing, and giving piggy back rides.  Aside from the work, we were very blessed today by the time this team spent with the people of Canaan!

We look forward to another day tomorrow similar to today, only better!

Please continue to pray for safety, good health, and for us to see HIM in and through all we do.

Team June II Day 1

Team June II had a great day in Canaan today.  There were a few different projects gong on in the buildings:  painting inside the small section of the medical building, wiring in the professional building, and cutting and painting trim boards.  The medical clinic was also busy with patients as the team worked in registration, triage, exam rooms, pharmacy, and dental assisting!
It’s a joy to serve the Haitian people of Canaan.  We learn from their resilience and are blessed by their appreciation.

Please pray for safety as we travel and work and for continued good health.  We will be praying for family members in PA.

*Please go to the AWAKENHAITI facebook page as we are experiencing some internet issues, making it difficult to upload pictures here.

Welcome Team June II

Team June II has arrived safely and is enjoying their first Haitian meal.
We are excited about what God has in store for this team while they are working and serving the Haitians and each other.
Monday-Thursday will be spent in Canaan.  There will be multiple different construction type projects going on through the week on the buildings and our medical and dental clinic will be in full swing.

Thank you to the team members who have given up work, vacation, time with family etc to come and be part of the awesome ministry God has invited AWAKENHAITI into!  And thank you to the family members who have stayed behind and have given your blessing for your loved one  to come to Haiti!

We will do our best to post daily updates and pictures both here and on the AWAKENHAITI facebook page!

Thank you Kadee!

Kadee came to Haiti from Canada three years in a row with teams, each time growing more in her understanding of what it means to love others and to really live in relationship with Christ.
She loves being in other countries so much she gave up her first year of university to work internationally.  She spent the fall and early part of the winter serving in the Dominican Republic and Brazil.  Shortly after returning to Canada, Jeff and Deb invited Kadee to join them in Haiti to help finish the school year with their daughter Brooke and to help with team care.
Kadee arrived in Haiti in April and gave it her all.  In an environment where one can feel daily isolation and the frustrations of a foreign culture, there is also the assurance and peace that God invites us into his ministry for His purposes.  In this assurance God strengthens, stretches, provides, and equips.

Kadee we appreciate the time you served with AWAKENHAITI!  For reaching out of your level comfort to school Brooke, for the many endless tasks involved in running teams and daily living in Haiti, for being willing to say yes, THANK YOU!
We pray for you as you pursue your education and your dreams!  We pray God would continue to guide you and that you would be "wide awake" to all He has in store for you!

Team June I

Team June I has had a great week in Haiti!  Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday were spent in Canaan with many different jobs going on at one time.  Through the week the team was wiring buildings, hanging interior walls, painting, helping some ladies with laundry, making visits, praying with Suzette, and playing with kids.
This team has been a blessing to the community of Canaan, the children of Good Samaritan, and to the Denlinger family!  God put this team together for His purposes!
It has been a blessing to also experience God stretching, growing and challenging team members through the week while they worked together.

Thank you Team June I for bringing your gifts, giving your time and love to the people AWAKENHAITI ministers to!

Team June I Days 1 & 2

Sunday was a blessing!  We enjoyed an amazing morning of worship at Port-au-Prince Fellowship!
The team took a tour of the city to see the different aspects of culture in and around the city.  The afternoon was spent with the girls and boys of Good Samaritan doing crafts and playing a group game. What a blast!  The kids thought the game was hilarious as they tried to draw a picture of a body based on the roll of a die.
We are so blessed to have spent time with the kids!

trying to draw a body one part at a time depending on the roll of a die...lots of fun!

Monday, the team spent the day painting some of the Cazeau's new home.  Max and Margarette Cazeau are the owners of Good Samaritan Boys and Girls homes.  They have been ministering to the children for years.  They also do a lot of ministry beyond the kids into their community.  It was an honor to bless them with a day serving them.  They hope to move into their new home later this summer.  Thank you Team June I for helping AWAKENHAITI serve the Cazeau family!

Welcome Team June I

Team June I has arrived at the guest house.  Everyone is doing very well.  They had a smooth trip through the airports and no holdups along the way.

This team will be going to church in the morning followed by a tour of Port-au-Prince.  After lunch, we will go the Good Samaritan girls home for games and crafts with the girls and boys.
This week will be filled with painting and many odd jobs in Canaan that will help in getting the medical center finished as well as more progress on the professional building.  We will also be assisting Junior as he treats dental patients and we will be making some home visits to Nadege and Suzette!
We are looking forward to a great week!  Please pray for good health, safety in traveling and work, and that God would show us and teach us what he has for us each day!
