Team May Days 5 & 6

We apologize for the delay in posting information.  Our internet provider has been doing some maintenance on their system.  Unfortunately, we still continue to experience difficulties with our service.

So, on to the end of the week for Team May…
The team had a relaxing day hiking to the waterfalls and at the pool Friday afternoon after trying their hand at bartering at the souvenir market.

Saturday, part of the team went back to Canaan to continue work on the professional building.  This was a great help to Jeff!
The other group went to support our Good Samaritan Boys at their soccer tournament.   They were extremely happy to have the cheering section and support!
In the afternoon, the team spent time with all the kids doing some crafts and doing dental exams.  Junior will be doing all the necessary treatment over the next several weeks.  Thank you Dr. Eddy for all the training you gave Junior so he can further his work!

Thank you Team May for giving of yourselves for the ministry and the people of Haiti!

Team May Day 3 & 4

Team May spent the last two days in Canaan.  While the projects didn't change from day 1 & 2, the more time spent, the more is learned!  The Haitian culture teaches us so much.  This team has learned what patience waiting in a clinic all day looks like, how such a young child can sit quietly and cooperatively for a long time as well, and what living in community really looks like without a whole lot of possessions.
The team has worked so well together, all busy doing different tasks using different skills while building a bond among them!   They also have had a blast hanging out with the kids in Canaan just laughing and playing without the need for much language.
AWAKENHAITI is so very blessed by this team!

Friday brings a walk to several waterfalls, souvenir market shopping, and a relaxing afternoon at the pool!  We are looking forward to a fun day of rest!

Team May Day 2

What an awesome day Team May had in Canaan!  The building is moving along so quickly.  God weaved this team together with just the right gifts to match the needs of the work that needs to be done on the building.  Several different types of gifts matched up with several different parts of the building!
It’s an amazing thing when we see God’s hand so intricately working!

The dental office was buzzing with patients as well while Dr. Eddy taught Junior some new skills and gave him the opportunity to try them.
The medical clinic was busy as well treating and encouraging patients.  One of our special patients was a 21 year old, just a baby herself who is just weeks away from the due date of her baby.  Her mother died and her boyfriend left her.  Fortunately, God blessed her with a loving step-mother who is willing to get her to the hospital when it’s time and help her with the baby.  This is very culturally abnormal for a step-mother to care for a child who is not biologically theirs.  It was an honor for a small group of women to spend time offering her encouragement and prayer.   Please pray for this young mom who is very frightened about the next few months.

We’re all thankful to be part of God’s work and ministry in Canaan!

Team May Day 1

Team May traveled to Canaan to minister to the Bethanie Community with their construction, medical, and dental talents.  This team has come with more though; a willingness to just give and serve in whatever capacity necessary.
Construction on the professional building continues this week.  We also are seeing some patients in the medical clinic and perhaps the most exciting part of this week is the dental care that is being provided for this community that so desperately needs it.  We are utilizing the dental equipment that was donated and shipped to Haiti in December and further dental training is being offered for Junior who has been learning and doing some basic cleanings and fillings.  We are very excited for Junior as he looks forward to furthering his skills and using them to serve his people!
