Team June

Team June has been working on plans to come to Haiti since late last summer/early fall.  They've heard us talk about our mobile medical clinic and the plans for a facility.  They've collected supplies, read up on a few things, left their families, jobs, and lives in America to be part of AWAKENHAITI for a week.

This week so far, they have run two days of physicals for the school kids at Bethanie School of Canaan checking almost 140 children and treating them for worms and they have had 3 days of clinic seeing approximately 200 patients.  They've given answers to people who really had no idea what was wrong, they've educated, and they've loved.
We are so blessed to have them here this week to help reach further than we could do on our own!
After clinic today, I walked out to see part of the team standing with Jeff on the foundation of the new medical and dental facility.  What a cool moment!

This team has blessed many as will this facility.  It will be built in phases over the next 6 months.  More pictures can be found on the AWAKENHAITI facebook page.

home #3 in Canaan

We are so proud of the Haitian guys working in construction with Jeff.  They are taking their knowledge of building stone foundations and doing it extremely well and have added it to Jeff's knowledge of framing to being to give their community strong beautiful homes!   They have learned to frame, how to use all the saws, use nail guns, trim a house etc.  House #1 and #2 were built with Americans and Haitians together... the Haitian guys were still learning a lot of details.  House #3 though, after team May helped do the framing has by done by Jeff and Jacques and their Haitian crew.  They've done an amazing job and Jefey and his family are soon ready to move in!

Canaan update

 Building continues in Canaan...

The kindergarten has been up and running now since the end of April!  It is a beautiful sound to hear both the noise in kindergarten learning and the quiet in elementary learning!  This building has been a huge blessing to Bethanie School of Canaan.  The teachers are able to focus their teaching the way they should and the students are able to learn they way they should!  Thank you to all involved in giving and helping to make this possible.

House #3 began in May and is moving along very quickly!  Our Haitian crew had the foundtion done and ready for Team May to begin framing.  The combined efforts of the May team and the Haitian crew got a huge jump start on the house walls were up and the roof was on.  The Haitian construction group has continued working on this project and the family will be moving in very soon!  Below is the work completed in May...more updates coming!
